FEDERAL DEVELOPMENTS

Data Brokers -- On July 24, Rep. Ed Markey (D-MA) and Rep. Joe Barton (R-TX), co-chairs of the Congressional Privacy Caucus, sent letter to nine data companies that collect, assemble, and sell consumer information third parties. The letter seeks information about each company's business practices and whether consumers have the right to access, correct or delete any personal information. The letter expresses concern that the, "large scale aggregation of the personal information of hundreds of millions of American citizens raises a number of serious privacy concerns." Learn more
